PARKVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
|
SCHOOL HOURS – Classes start every day at 8:30 am sharp; but students are expected to be on the school grounds by 8:20 am. Dismissal is at 2:00 pm for Pre-K through grade 1 daily and at 3:00 pm for grades 2 through 5, except on Wednesday when everyone is dismissed at 2:00 pm. ATTENDANCE – Regular attendance is essential to a student’s success in school. A written excuse from the parent is required when a student is absent from school or tardy. Arriving to school after 8:30 am is considered tardy. UNIFORM – Uniforms are mandatory at Parkview Elementary as overwhelmingly voted by the parents. REGISTRATION – Registration is held in the spring for children entering school in the fall. All students entering a Miami-Dade County school for the first time must present: (1) birth certificate; (2) physical examination certificate; (3) certificate of immunization; (4) proof of address; and (5) social security card EMERGENCY – It is very important for emergency and administrative reasons, that every student maintains an up-to-date address and phone number in the school office. Notify the school immediately if you have a change of address or phone number during the school year. We also need an emergency contact number of a person other than yourself who can act on your behalf if you cannot be reached. Only the person that you have listed on the “Emergency Card” will be permitted to pick up your child from school. TELEPHONE – Students are not allowed to use the office phone for personal calls except in the case of an emergency. HOME LEARNING – Home learning is assigned daily, including Friday. Please make sure that your child complete this task accordingly. TEXTBOOKS – All textbooks are the property of the State of Florida, which requires that damaged or lost textbooks be paid by anyone responsible for its loss or damage. PARENT CONFERENCES & VISITATIONS – No conferences will be held during instructional time. They should be arranged by appointment only. VOLUNTEERS – We gladly welcome parents who would like to volunteer some of their free time to serve at the school in one capacity or another. Please contact our counselor to sign up as a volunteer. All volunteers must report to the main office to sign the volunteer book before you report to the classroom. GRADING POLICY – On June 14, 2001, Governor Jeb Bush signed into law Senate Bill 636, which amends the statewide grading scale by lowering the required ranges of percentage grades and grade points. The new statewide grading scale changed by this bill is based on the following 10-percentage point scale:
This new grading scale applies to all grades 1 through 12 and was effective July 1, 2001. |
